Developing a Creative Outlet

I have always loved to write. Happy, sad, excited or anxious – no matter how I feel on the inside, it improves my mood to express my thoughts through written words. As a pre-teen, the words were hidden under my bed in teal notebook. As my access to technology increased, I traded in my pencil for a computer keyboard. No matter the format, written communication has given me an outlet when I needed it most.

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs throughout my life and I know I’m not the only one. I’ve wanted to start a blog for about a decade but self-doubt got in the way. I’m still unsure if people would find my thoughts worthwhile – time will tell!

I’ve always believed I have a positive story to share and I love to learn about the journeys of others. What event finally pushed me to do it? COVID-19. I’m in desperate need of something fun to fill the void the pandemic has created and time is finally on my side.

For me, extra time has been a blessing in this storm. I’m lucky to have the ability to work from home which saves on travel time to and from my office. I know that everyone is not as lucky. So many women and men are out of work or facing extra challenges and my heart goes out to them – I’ve been there. My goal for Glitter on the Sidewalk is to build a community where guests can share their viewpoints and celebrate overcoming adversity.

So…what’s next? I can’t wait to dive in and discuss issues like boundaries, self-respect, setting goals, relationships, mental health and the importance of lifting up one another through kindness.

Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
